Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy for Insomnia
(CBT-I)

Insomnia can have a powerful impact on a person’s long-term wellbeing and daily ability to function.  If you are struggling with insomnia you may find that you are often concerned about the impact of sleep on your life and wellbeing.  You may also find yourself engaging in creative, but often ineffective, efforts to compensate for sleep problems.

The gold-standard treatment for insomnia is a structured psychotherapy called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, or CBT-I .   CBT-I has the potential to help both long- and short-term insomnia sufferers without medication or long-term therapy.  Insomnia is a treatable condition, with many clients requiring 8 or less weeks of treatment in or to regain greater quality of sleep and sense of wellbeing.

CBT-I is right for many people, including those living with other medical disorders, sleep disorders, and/or psychiatric disorders.  It is important to address obstructive sleep apnea and restless legs syndrome prior to CBT-I.

If you are taking sleep medication, your therapist will work with you and your prescribing provider on your medication goals during and after therapy.  Please contact me to set up an assessment to determine if this treatment could be a good fit for you.

About  |  Andrea Reinhardt, LCSW, ADHD-CCSP

I am a licensed clinical social worker & psychotherapist with a practice focus on treating adults living with insomnia, related mental health conditions, and ADHD.  I have formal training and experience treating adult insomnia with CBT-Insomnia.  I have additional specialized training in the treatment of ADHD and have provided extensive clinical care to clients with executive dysfunction (a hallmark of ADHD) throughout my career.  Utilizing all of the therapies mentioned above has allowed me to witness how significantly my client’s circumstances improved.

I have a career-long track record of providing effective outpatient care in the area of mental/behavioral health to those with a variety of diagnoses and/or needs related to stressors and life course issues.  I have a particular interest in the treatment of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and PTSD because they commonly coincide with sleep problems and ADHD.  I strive for and have been consistently successful in supporting measurable change for clients with a variety of behavioral health needs by implementing a variety of therapies dependent upon the priorities, needs, and preferences of my clients. I am committed to taking insurance in my practice because the need for these therapies is significant and they have been shown to be highly effective.

Note that while therapy should never be about the therapist, nor would I ever allow that to happen, for the purpose of advocacy and education I am professionally transparent about living with ADHD myself.

People have incredible potential yet at the same time may have life circumstances, relationship issues, neurobiological & genetic factors, as well as larger-scale environmental and social factors that can impact that potential.  I will actively work with you on understanding your individual psychology and circumstances from a strengths-based lens, and will give you the quality care and individual attention that you deserve in psychotherapy. My ultimate goal is to support you toward what you want most out of life.
